I get why it happens, but I'm so tired of gender non conforming characters automatically being assumed to be trans. The new Pokémon character, Gou, has been particularly frustrating.

It's also weirdly transphobic most of the time. Most trans people intend to pass and basically pointing out characters who are not the very epitome of a masculine male or feminine female stereotype and insisting they're totally trans feels pretty iffy.
