You'll get there. There was a specific song that used to remind me of my dad and I just couldn't listen to it without crying. Until one day I could.

It might take a long time, but it will happen eventually.

It's hard to say when, but it will happen, OP. My mother passed away a couple years ago and I still have these moments where something will remind me of her and I get this twinge of sorrow and unexpected tears. But I have a lot of fond memories, too. It's a cliche, but the passage of time really makes a difference. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts. Please take care of yourself, and virtual hugs if you need them.

I'm sorry about your mom. It took a couple of years for me after my dad passed, and even a decade after the fact occasionally something will catch me off guard. It does get better though, and even the stuff that still hurts is more of an ache than a burn.

I'm sorry. It takes time. You'll get there. It took me two years before I could put up Halloween decorations after my grandpa died.
