Laptop Battery Treatment

(Anonymous) 2019-09-29 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
People of F!S, do you leave your laptops plugged in all the time? Or do you ascribe to the notion that doing that will kill your battery faster? Do you try to keep your laptop in that mid-range between low and fully charged, like some techies recommend? Please tell me about how you treat your laptop battery. I have a new laptop that cost twice what my previous ones did, and I'd like to treat it right, if I can.

I keep mine always plugged in and, honestly, it's going on four years now without ever a problem?

my plug in routine has nothing to do with the laptop battery and everything to do with lowering my electric bills by not leaving vampires plugged in. I don't care if it's a fraction of a kilowatt overnight, that's more than zero and I don't need it adding up when I have multiple game systems, security lights, heating/cooling, and every appliance with a clock in it.

I try not to, but I usually do just leave it plugged in. I think it's bad for the battery, but I never take my laptop anywhere anyway.

I'd unplug it. My laptop is pretty much broken, and needs to be plugging in 24/7 or it'd die immediately. Unplugging it leaves less room for damaging the port when knocking into it, and whatnot, though I don't think it makes much difference anymore where battery life is concerned.
