Yes, but fiction is fiction. Have you ever spent any time in Japan? Because if you had, you would know how pervasive workplace sexism is there and how pigeonholed women are into certain roles and certain types of jobs even in this day and age.

Fiction is actually the whole point here - from the comment I'm replying to: Something Naoto mentions at is that she was inspired to become a detective from reading detective novels, and how you never see a female detective as a lead.
