I work with kindergartners and first graders who have severe special needs. The student's mother did tell us that he used to eat his poop, but that he hadn't done it in a few years, so it would be fine for us to not supervise him when using the restroom. I guess he decided to start up again . . . or maybe not, because he had an awfully regretful look on his face.
