(Anonymous) 2008-10-26 06:15 am (UTC)(link)I know that there's certainly a readership out there for a typical-high-school-with-magic series, but I just think that a Marauders series would a) suffer in comparison with HP and b) be seen as merely a ploy by JKR for free money, rather than telling a story that needs to be told. Everything we need to know about the Marauders has been told; everything that makes them interesting has been told. And while, yeah, JKR is a good writer, she's not so fantastic a writer that I think she could make me care about their Hogwarts years anymore than a good fanfic writer (with the obvious exception that hers would be canon).
If she's going to write a prequel, I would much rather see an epic about Dumbledore, from about the time he met Grindelwald up to their final battle. That's a story that we really only have the bare bones of, and would actually help us understand the character more.
