I definitely don't think black people aren't allowed to be villains, and the Carcer character being black isn't my biggest problem with the adaptation by a long stretch. But it is a dimension to be aware of, especially if the villains is the only character or one of the only characters who is black.

Also, the other problem with the Lady Sybil casting is that the character in the books is neither thin nor a vigilante, so it's just a whole mess.

Right, I remember a secret some time ago that mentioned the whole vigilante thing. It's like they forgot to read the books and got all their character information from an AU fanfiction, or something.
I've probably been desensitized a little by that horrid ATLA live action, but I do think you have a point, I'll agree.
