[The Great British Bake Off, series 10]

I agree (and I also don't think she was that strong of a baker).

Aw man, I thought she was absolutely awful.

Everything she made was a terrible, gimmicky mess of a Halloween nightmare. I'm so glad she went out before the cakes they did on Festival Week, because I could just envision the black, green and purple sarawak mess she'd have come out with. *shudder*

I only caught one or two episodes of the show by chance, and always felt it had a distinct 'reality TV' vibe to it. Maybe not as bad as all the crap American programs constantly throw at you, but obvious none the less. After hearing about how natural and real the show was, I was very disappointed and haven't gotten around to giving it a second chance since.

Well, the format isn't very natural feeling, but the people are nice. I think that's more of what people are talking about.

I think by 'natural' and 'real' they mean that the people seem nice and genuinely happy for the other bakers when they do well and such. There's a nice feel to it, rather than one of bitter rivalry. When somebody goes off, they're all so sweet about it.

This. There's no engineered rivalry and nastiness on the GBBO. There's no real nastiness at all, actually. The bakers are sweet and supportive to one another and often end up friends in real life afterwards.
