I agree that the community here is pretty savage. I don't know if comparing it to Tumblr really makes sense, but I rarely ever open the comments of F!S posts anymore (even to see what people have commented on my secrets) because 99% of the time, you can't say anything right here.

I don't think that's true. Plenty of discussions are had without people getting dogpiled. But I'm slightly cynical because IME, the people who are all, "You can't say ANYTHING right!!" are typically unaware of how much they're contributing to the problem. Either they're really, really bad at expressing themselves, or they're inflammatory and lack self-awareness that it's not other people being too sensitive, it's them being insensitive.

I think there's probably some truth to this, but I'm also kind of sympathetic to it, because like... some people probably don't want to engage in that kind of critical-rational discussion where the expectation is that you need to express yourself in a way that's consistent and logical. They just want to express their feelings.

And I think there's not really an easy way to navigate between the different expectations of people who do and don't want that, so I get why it's frustrating.
