I partially agree.

I guess in part it’s just that on other platforms, when given the choice, I make a point of surrounding myself with friendly and relatively chill people. I don’t care how amazing your content is; if I get the feeling that you look for things to be outraged about, I’m not following you. So when I engage with people on other sites it tends to be in a very positive way.

But I think another factor is that I’ve always found it fairly easy to disregard antis. Their ire and vitriol is so OTT that I just sort of automatically disregard what they have to say. I can’t take them seriously and therefore the things they say don’t overly ruffle me. Whereas the negativity on F!S tends to be more pointed and less hysterical, and therefore it bothers me more.

I think I’m just incredibly frustrated by people who seem to always opt for the least sympathetic reading of what other people say - as though they’re looking to be irate. And this place does have some people who seem to do that.
