I have some kinks I'm like this with too, OP. One that I can think of right now is male characters that I find attractive that read as submissive to me. Also female characters that read as dominant. If there are either of those two things in a fandom, I'm probably going to ship them in a pairing regardless. Possibly with each other, possibly with another male. Sometimes I genuinely ship apart from liking the character traits. But sometimes I just like the character traits and so I ship because of that.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
