Obscure / Historical Ships

(Anonymous) 2019-10-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Based on #3 and #6 - what are your favorite super-obscure ships or ships between historical people?

I’ve shipped Edgar Allen Poe/Emily Dickinson since middle school when we did a section on his poetry followed by her poetry.

Hmmmm, I can definitely see a brotp but I can't see it as romantic

Does it count if I ship Anne of Cleves/happiness? Because her engagement and marriage to Henry VIII sounded like an awful disaster but she escaped a beheading and by all accounts had a pretty happy life as a single woman.

I ship all 6 of them with happiness. I don't think it was ever gonna happen for Katherine of Aragon, she was too Catholic and Henry was too big a ho, but I like to imagine at least the other five sneaking off to Ireland or France or something and living lives that don't involve marrying a selfish randy man-child.

Obscure (not historical): Jade/Nephry from Tales of the Abyss. Super-duper rare, even for a series of games that isn't shy about its incest ships.

Also I really like Cid/Alphinaud from FFXIV? But as far as I can tell it literally doesn't exist? I don't get it. The main ship for Alphinaud (outside of WoL) seems to be Estinien, which, okay, I can see that, but... nothing of Cid? The guy who's literally like "MY BOY, I COULD KISS YOU" whenever Alphinaud breathes? So strange.

Well with Dist around, I don't think Nephry has much of a chance... Really though, I never liked Jade, so I'd like to think both of them could do much better.

Is this where I mention that I actually really like Dist/Nephry too? She’s sweet to him, haha, and the poor neurotic mess would be so weird about accepting her kindness. It’d be cute.

I think it is! I've never really thought about the two of them together before, but I could totally get behind it! Very cute indeed!

Alexander/Hephaistion (I've gone through all the historical fiction that acknowledges them... it's not a lot and I'm sad.)

Lucrezia Borgia/Alfonso of Aragon (They loved each other, but all people are ever interested in is the incest that never happened)

Henry VII/Elizabeth of York

I violently agree with the Lucrezia/Alfonso mention! So much!

Are you also as petty as me aka do you cackle about The Borgias (who lied to us about not doing the incest thing boo hisssssss) never filming their finale?

Both historically and obscure, since I first fell for them playing AC, Cesare/Micheletto. I have such a thing for bff bodyguard ships, and these two fit perfectly in that category.
