No, that wasn't my issue with the voice acting on Castlevania (and I explained it back then already). In fact, I think the BIG EMOTIONS type of voice acting that's the common style in Japanese dubs usually doesn't work in English dubs, and it's usually pretty terrible when voice actors try to emulate that style.
But the thing with Castlevania was that a lot of the lines were seriously slurred. And voice acting with slurred lines sounds sloppy and unprofessional, mostly because realistic talking usually clashes with the stylisation of animation.
