Re: Tropes that get under your skin

Bernadette’s situation pissed me off so much. She had really good reasons for not wanting children and one was that Howard wouldn’t pull his own weight. Then she has the two and he doesn’t seem to do much to help. Her views on motherhood came off as really negative even after she had them and the only time I remember her saying anything positive was when she was basically telling Penny (who had one episode where she said she didn’t want to have kids and she ended up pregnant too) that she wouldn’t be a complete person without having kids. The only one who expressed interest in having kids was Amy and she’s the one who didn’t end up pregnant.

That's really irritating, no argument, but what really pissed me off about this whole thing is that before they got married, she and Howard talked about this and they both decided that they would have kids and Howard would stay at home and raise them. They decided Bernadette would work and Howard would take care of the kids and be a house husband.

Every problem they had later in the series involving kids was resolved before they got married, and honestly, I thought it was a pretty cool resolution. The writers either forgot or decided to ignore this later on. I don't know why.
