Probably because it's a bad movie

If this was Reddit, I’d give you an upvote.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yep.

I wouldn't go so far as to say AoU was better, but I didn't think Infinity War was particularly good, no. I find the whole premise dumb and Thanos very boring, though.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
AoU was shorter, at least.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-15 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony and Nebula on the space ship was good
the rest sucked ass

Thats endgame

It was long as fuck and I do agree with you. This is a movie I've seen ONCE.

On the other hand, I've watched Thor: Ragnarok countless times, and my MCU ship isn't even in it.

Thank you OP!
I'm tired of everyone going on about how 'brilliant' this film is. This is the film that essentially turned me off the Marvel series, which is a shame as I was such a massive fan. (I enjoyed End Game but that was it. Also Disney are assholes but that's a whole other thing).

I kind of feel happy there's a bit of a backlash building. I think Marvel Movies have been getting a fuckton of free hype from writers who otherwise would be more critical of the stupid plot devices and market-driven triangulation. Game of Thrones has a weak season and everyone (justifiably!) sharpens their knives. Marvel builds two movies around one stupid idea and I'm still getting hype months later.

Or maybe not everyone agrees with you? I liked Infinity Wars. I liked parts of Endgame and thought other parts of it were really terrible. There is not some universal objective opinion out there on media. Views on media are just that. Opinion.

Or maybe it's a ridiculous for a single good movie, much less an incoherent wank like Endgame, to get lead headlines through two successive seasons and four major conventions every time someone tweets something.

MTE. The MCU is faaaar from perfect, but IMO it was a hell of a story Feige and Co built, and Infinity War was a hell of a penultimate installment.

Also, anything this big is bound to have some amount of backlash. It could be the greatest story ever told and it'd still have some backlash; that's just how massive popularity works.

I totally agree with you, I'm so done with this particular cash cow.

I didn't like it either.

But where Age of Ultron is the worst of the MCU movies I've seen (13 of 23), I would put Infinity War just a touch above it. I thought Endgame was okay, but that's not a ringing endorsement. And it's kind of sad that of the actual Avengers movies, I only liked half and only think one is really good. However, of the MCU movies I've watched, only those two sucked for me, while three were just okay, and the other eight were either good or really good. So, that's a pretty good ratio, I think.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
I knew most of what was going to happen and it's still top three for me. *shrugs*

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really consider this movie and Endgame films as much as a cinematic 'experience', more akin to an extended themepark ride. They're all about the thrill rides, essentially your payoffs for having followed the stories and characters established by previous installments in the franchise. I've watched both several times on various long plane trips and they were perfect for burning a few hours without having to engage your brain too much, you're just experiencing the cool moments and remembering the good times.

And I guess this is a new thing for moviegoers but I've always felt this way about big crossover events in comics? The plots are always utter shit shows that fall apart upon closer scrutiny but the THRILLS.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
You may have a point there

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
This, so much. I just wish the thrills worked better for me.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-16 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
I 've always thought it was pretty much as good as it could have been for what it was supposed to be and do, but I was so-so about it when I watched it the first time, because the only thing that really worked was its ending (echoes of Togue One here), and I can't imagien rewatching it for fun. But I know many people who do, so...
