It was so obvious that Wesley was the Creator's Pet and had some strong Marty-Stu vibes, even to my younger self. Kim, in my opinion, is how Wesley should've been treated as a character.

I agree, though I did like how Wesley was treated later on when he went off to Starfleet and kept on being the Golden Boy until he suddenly wasn't. But by then he was an adult and Gene Wesley Roddenberry was dead, so...
