Ohhh, I have heard of that one!! I DO love a game with good plotlines and stories. That is truly what fires up my own imagination - and consoles are not the ONLY way to go. :D Me and the PC are totally friends (when I have a cooling pad for my laptop - miss my Steam games, but she heats up too fast and I like to play for HOURS, alas). Alas, strategy can go over my head too often, but it requires a patience that I sorely lack (though I love WATCHING someone play such games...I'm a weirdo).

The replay value is high for DMC, but only if you like those kinds of games. I think you may like Stellaris. It is a new game that MIGHT be available on Steam as well as console. It is an empire-builder that requires strategy, understanding your world's history and governance - and it is a beauty to look at, as well.

Stellaris is actually by the same company that makes EUIV! I have played it a little, it's definitely fun and great-looking but it's also very different from EUIV - starting out from nothing versus starting out from an established, familiar world. It's an adjustment.

It's weird because I was kinda thinking that I don't have the patience for RPGs and you were saying you don't have the patience for strategy games. It just seems like it takes a while to get into the story and it feels a lot harder to tell whether or not the story and characters are going to be interesting, I guess? Which is also true of movies and books but movies and books require much less time commitment.

I did play the Shadowrun games, and I liked those a lot, although I think I never finished the third one. I like the Shadowrun setting a lot so that helped.

So THAT'S where I'd heard of it, lol! Ahhh, being tired means I track poorly - apologies!

True. Stellaris seems a little harder due to that aspect, though I'm sure there are a lot of strategy gamers that have been waiting a long, LONG time for a game that indepth to come out. Is is truly a marvel, but alas, a little much for me. I will have to check out EUIV, though. My hubby will love it if nothing else. He has a fondness for empire builders. I blame the original Dungeon Keeper (one of the better PC games in the early 2000's!)

Very, very true! I always thought of myself as someone who 'doesn't do platformers/RPGs', but that does not seem to hold true anymore. I like 'living' the story. The slower build and the discovery and falling in love with the characters (flaws and all) as I go. It takes longer, but can be more gratifying. Like with thicker books, you know? And they can be revisited again and again - sometimes being led through different scenarios that challenge you and the characters you love. That can be the best!

I will say I do not touch much 'online' though. DMC 5 has an online element, but you never really notice it. I do not do well with things like Warcraft. Too much to keep track of, too many people interfering with you (and not nicely). It just breaks the immersion. One day, I will likely eat THOSE words as well, but until that time, I do NOT do MMORPGS. :D

I heard good things about that game, but I think the graphics got to me. I will have to check it out, though. Gosh knows, I'm playing Bard's Tale IV - and the graphics are nothing to write home to Momma about, but it is a good, old fashioned dungeon-crawler that makes me happy for some weird, inexplicable reason. So testing Shadowrun should not be a stretch. Gosh knows I avoided Quantum Break FOREVER, only to give it a shot when bored and I love the darned game. :D
