I agree that life is not necessary in the cosmos and that humanity has no specific relevance in the universe. I think that necessity, relevance, and meaning are ultimately constructs of intelligent, sentient minds. A universe devoid of intelligent life would be utterly cold and empty. And as far as we know, human beings are the only intelligent life in the universe, and the only intelligent life we can count on existing.
