But is it actually tied to the main movies/series? Chances are it's set in an alternate universe or the far off past.

I don't know what you're talking about. It's almost like you think all the dragons left or something. /happily ignores the third movie

Oh, but why would you ignore the third movie? It's so great! I love how Hiccup and the Dragon Riders call upon all of their old allies from the Race to the Edge series and how they all work together to take down their newest enemies, who are tough but not a whole lot worse than the other threats they've faced, and in the end the bond between dragons and humans becomes stronger than ever, and it's once again reaffirmed that both of them are stronger together than they are apart. It was so inspiring. And I loved how at the end Hiccup and Astrid have a beautiful wedding on the shores of Berk with Toothless and Stormfly playing integral parts in the ceremony and then Heather moves in with them and becomes their third. Toothless and the light fury having beautiful little babies who grow up alongside Hiccup and Astrid's kids was cute as hell, too. It was just the perfect ending where they all live happily ever after and no one is flanderized to hell and back and there's no stupid, awful moral about how bigots always win no matter what you do, so you should just hide away from them forever until they magically stop being bigots all on their own 'cause that's totally how it works!

I admit that I was worried that they'd separate the humans and dragons at the end, because separating friends at the end of movies is a big stupid trend these days, but thank goodness that didn't happen! That would've sucked, made no sense and been ridiculously emotionally manipulative so I'm glad they didn't do that!

I feel more bad for the baby dragons than the human kids.
