I mean, aside from the 2000s revival - and Jordan Peele's new one - odds are higher that you aren't going to run into people who know the original twilight zone right off the bat.

Instead of using that to judge people why not use that as an opportunity to introduce them to it instead or, if they aren't interested, realizing that people having different media likes than you isn't a proper barometer for worthiness.

All of this.

I would be a little surprised if somebody hadn't at least heard of the show at some point, but I'd also be kinda envious of them, because if, after they do hear about it, they're interested enough to check it out, they're going to be lucky enough to experience these stories, completely unspoiled, for the first time. That'd be pretty fun, and I'd look forward to their reactions :D.

I honestly can't remember seeing Twilight Zone on television outside of holiday marathons and as such couldn't tell you much about any particular episode. I'd say there's a lot of folks who haven't seen much of the show, particularly anyone born after its original run or anyone from outside the US. (Even people around while it was on the air might not know it. I know a lot of folks who didn't have television in the eighties and nineties in my area because of the cost.)

You can think whatever you want about people, but it does seem kind of silly to judge someone over not knowing pop culture references from 30 years ago. Why not see if its the kind of show they'd like to be introduced to? They might thank you for getting them into something they'd like.

As someone who was born after its original run and never once saw it on TV, reruns or marathons or otherwise, I still knew what it WAS, though. Like, I'd at least heard of it.

I don't think most of the people who watched the original run are who the secret poster would be talking about as they would be at least in their 60s (the original was on from 1959-1964), rather people who might have watched reruns (it has been rerun a lot, plus it is on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, iTunes, and CBS All Access) or revivals (1985-1989, 2002-2003, or 2019) or even the movie (1983) or radio show (2002-2012). Really, though, it's been in pop culture longer than Star Trek and I would expect most Americans to have some idea what it is about even if they never watched it (though I wouldn't necessarily expect them to know generalities of any particular story).

There's a marathon every New Years on US tv. And I mean, I feel like it'd be ahrd to find someone in English language fandom who has at least some knowledge of the show.

But if someone hasn't, that's not a reason to judge them.It might not be their fault. It's a weird standard to hold people to?

I mean, depending on when your co-workers were born, that seems like a terrible way to judge people.

Even then it's not like everyone is interested in popular media or will have heard about it if it's irrelevant to their interests. I knew a kid who didn't know who Beyonce was at the height of her fame despite having access to radio and television.
