Re: What is something you love that you shared with someone....

I shared some games with some friends, and they absolutely shit all over them.

It sucked because I couldn't wait to geek out with them or at least have a halfway decent discussion and all I got was "This is the stupidest goddamn thing I've ever played" or "this was the absolute worst and it has turned me off of the series forever." Just made me feel like shit and also stupid for even thinking they'd even enjoy those games.

I don't recc much these days, tbh. I mean, I'd like to, based on people's interests and I would absolutely toss in as many disclaimers as possible. And while people are entitled to their opinions, I just can't deal with that kind of reaction anymore. Yes, I know it makes me childish. I don't care.

Wow, that was really rude of them. It seems to be a minority opinion here, but personally I think it's crappy to respond like that to someone who's trying to engage positively by reccing something. You don't have to like it, you don't have to pretend to play but ffs don't be an asshole about it. There's this ugly, pervasive attitude that you're superior if you shit on something from on high and your precious opinion is sacred - so sacred you're above being sensitive to someone else's feelings. It sucks.
