I wasn't under the impression that the DC movie fandom was particularly thriving? Even for the cute stuff?

I'd wager disinterest has far more to do with it than people metaphorically clutching their pearls because non-con/dub-con fic is still plenty popular from what I've seen. People just aren't into this ship, that's not a crime, it's personal taste.

I never see people talking about DCU. It's not the hot new fandom everyone jumped to. But in the fandoms I'm in, I don't think there's been any issue with people not wanting to write that type of pairing in general, just that they don't care much about DC

after a very quick poke at ao3, there's about 37 steve/diana fics in total, so yeah, not exactly a busy fandom with lots of choice. op just got unlucky with this ship preference and are acting like it's the fault of moral purity or whatever when it's just people not being interested in the dc movies for fandom purposes.
