IMHO, Picasso's cubist paintings are not the best Picasso art and Picasso paintings are also not the best cubist art, even though he co-founded the style. Personally I find Georges Braque's paintings to be a much more...aesthetically compelling iteration of cubism? It's a lot more architecture and landscape, so it doesn't quite have the 'childish grotesque' off-putting first impression of a lot of Picasso's cubist portraits, while still exploring how a non-realist omni-dimensional sort of perspective gives you new dynamic ways of looking at something. And most of the Picasso work I've enjoyed most has been from his non-cubist periods.

...all that said, if you ever have a chance to see Guernica in person, go. The grotesqueness of it just fucking works to express the grotesqueness of war.

Also, I'm thirty and I can't draw better than stick figures. Anyone brave enough to make stuff and share it shouldn't mocked or told to hide it. Let people post what they want.

ayrt

All of Picasso's works that I've seen has either looked really wrong or just subtly wrong (and sometimes that's somehow worse). It doesn't matter if it's his Blue period, his Cubist works, his Surrealist or any other works. I might have something of a mental block against his other works because of the first pieces I saw, but I dislike The Old Guitarist only a little less than say, A Dream.
