I came home from a long day at work to find someone, most likely my next door neighbor, had cut down as much of my (currently full of fruit) pomegranate tree and the dragonfruit cactus and young grapevine entwined with it as they could reach and then heaped it up in the alley it used to overhang. I just spent three hours crying and swearing and lugging branches into my backyard and sweeping and filling my trashcan to overflowing and they keep fucking doing this. Last time they took a picture of the brushpile and added a bunch of their own old furniture they’d left in the alley and reported it as though it was my mess.

I don’t have a car and can’t drive, so I can’t haul this to the dump myself. I’m gone 14 hours a day for work and leave in the dark before sunrise and come home after sunset; I have no time to do anything much but work. I don’t make much money, so I can’t hire anyone. I have one of my two relatives coming to visit from out of state on Saturday and Sunday and a volunteer thing I’m doing Saturday. I meant to go shopping and make work lunches and do some laundry when I came home and instead I lugged dead tree and got poked full of holes. I just started at a new location last month and I’ll probably have to miss work tomorrow so I can get all that stuff done and finish cleaning up the mess they left.

I miss when my neighborhood wasn’t so full of gentrifying rich assholes.

Ask the family member to give you a hand if they're physically capable, or skip the volunteering thing. I know both feel like asshole moves, but a) what's the good of family if they can't help you out a little when you really need it, and b) there are times when you really do need to help yourself before you can help others. Put on your oxygen mask before you help anyone else with theirs!

Also your neighbor sounds like a huge piece of shit, I hope you at least took pictures of the damage and the mess they left.

So question- are your trees overhanging on their, or government property?
I guess it doesn't matter much actually, given I don't know how the regulations work where you live... Either way, I am sorry this keeps happening to you. I am otherwise curious as to why this is a problem? I honestly can't imagine why someone would cut back your trees at all, which is probably why I am so confused over this.
I'd maybe talk to the neighbours first. Ask if, and what it is that they have a problem with. Otherwise, I'd probably arrange to have the main stems cut back, and away from the alley. (invite your neighbours with their handy saw blades to prune) I'm not familiar with the trees you're mentioning, but I can't imagine them growing so quick that they'd invade anothers property after being sawed off like that. (maybe leave a webcam to catch them in the act?)
