Can you guys be subtle (if I give you the link) and/or give me your honest opinion?

So I've been paranoid as shit lately, and part of that is some terrible timing from me posting fanart for like the first time to a fanfic I absolutely love, and a secret coming up about hating when fanart is embedded into a fic. (yes! i've been holding this back for that long...)
Problem is that the fic writer said they'd update in a week, as they were figuring out a medium between length vs. wait time... it's been longer than I week I must say, it's probably been the longest time they've had between posting chapters. (which was already like a month and more in between) My paranoia says that I've somehow corrupted and/or killed this fic I love... and since we're already on the subject of fanart, I'd like some kind of opinion.

I don't want to link the fic obviously, but can a fanart be so bad that it pretty much kills what it's trying to support? I'd like some opinions... I'm kinda dying here.
I'm sort of willing to link the pic, but my paranoia is telling me not to.

You think that by posting a piece of fanart, the writer saw it, and then shriveled up and died? I mean, I guess it's possible, but sometimes life gets in the way and it has nothing to do with you. It's not like you did anything wrong, unless the author explicitly said no fanart, and even then, withholding chapters or cancelling the rest of the story in response sounds extreme. (The only case where I can think of where that would be an appropriate response is if you wrote the message "stop posting this awful story you sad sack of shit, your mother never loved you and fandom is better off if you just go away" to an illustration two of the characters performing torture on a third person meant to represent the author, but I seriously doubt that's the case here)

Someone's not gonna quit writing a fic because someone gave them amateur fanart. What's way way waaaaaay more likely is that life got in the way, their beta is on vacation, or this chapter is particularly difficult. I think it's easy to psych yourself out with this sort of thing, but nobody's gonna object to fanart unless you accidently found Anne Rice's sock account.
