Dunno about red velvet (so gross), but I'm pretty sure someone did a carrot cake once.

But every time they make cake, the icing is always something *other* than cream cheese, and it just baffles me.

I'd put my mom's chocolate cream cheese icing up against any buttercream or meringue any day.

Carrot cake is definitely a thing over here in the UK, though how much of the icing is actually cream cheese is up for debate. I remember thinking it sounded gross as a teen, then I tried it and it was a food revelation.

I had my first taste of red velvet the other week when a local restaurant dropped some promotional freebies into my workplace, and, eh. It looked like insides and was so moist it was soggy.

Carrot cake without a good cream cheese icing is just...scandalous.

I hate red velvet, because you can taste the damn red dye. It's so incredibly gross.


I do like a moist cake, just not one that tastes like chemicals.
