I do read comics and even I get tired of "but that's how it is in the comics!" from people convinced their fanon is canon in the MCU. Not just about Hawkeye, but lots of other characters too.

I get the wasted potential angle but the MCU is still not a cut and paste of the comics. Which are varied anyway because there's decades of different versions of characters there as well!
