Ick

Drove to the Don Hutto detention center and back to talk with a client. It is about a 2.5 hour drive each way (ended up being close to 3 coming back). I will not be agreeing to that much driving again until after my foot surgery. I am in so much pain right now. I took a tramadol and have a bag of ice on it, but it is just bad.

That was basically my day. I did a couple job applications this morning before I went out.

I've currently got a casserole of my mom's amazing mac and cheese in the oven. So at least that will be nice.

If by today you mean Wednesday, I mostly just completed my third day of Ring Fit Adventure on the Switch.

I made pot toast with red potatoes, baby carrots, and onions in my crock pot today and the whole house smells delicious. I took a shower and went to my favorite tea shop and now I'm waiting for baseball to start. I'm off work tomorrow too, yay!

I spent most of the day in bed because I pulled a muscle on my back and laying supine is pretty much the only position in which it doesn't hurt.

Ouch. I'm so sorry. I hope you can get that taken care of and feel better soon.

It's not that bad. I know from experience that tomorrow I'll probably be functional and in 2-3 days I won't have even a twinge of pain left.

Commiserating with my boss and my boss's boss's admin assistant regarding how my boss's boss is currently being a nitpicking asshole due to stress. Oooooh my god, we have no idea why, instead of, like, eating a chocolate cake like a normal person, he goes on "I'M GONNA PICK OUT EVERY TINY FLAW IN YOUR DOCUMENT" binges.

Trying to chill after a bad boss day. The meetings are on the calendar for a reason.

Just got offered a transfer to a work location that’ll shave at least half an hour off my commute each way, but I’m kind of sad because I really like all my coworkers and customers here, even though I have to leave for work and come home in the dark. I hope everyone at the new location is as easy and fun to work with. I haven’t heard anything bad, but I’m still a bit worried.

I'm at the local annual agricultural show. It's not bad, but it's gone downhill so far from where it was when I was a kid it really makes me sad :(
Pretty nice weather, though, and I have patted many animals (a couple of dogs, some lambs and goats, a venomous snake, a parrot, and a chicken so far).

I worked, then went to my parents' house to help them set up a new router which was...an adventure. I've set up around a dozen routers over the years and the only other time one wouldn't work was when we got a defective one (back then they would only let us exchange it for the exact same brand and model, and the second one worked as expected). This one was obviously defective too, but my mom kept insisting I was "doing it wrong" and pulling up how-to videos on YouTube to prove it. In all the videos, the modem was black, while her modem is whitish/light gray (and her old router is black) so she kept trying to tell me that I needed to connect the old router to the new router instead of connecting the modem to the new router, and no matter how I tried to explain it to her, she just could not seem to understand. (And the entire time my dad was sitting there playing games on his phone and she was mad at him for not helping although there was really nothing for him to do, so she was not in a great mood.) Finally I convinced her that the router was defective and she needs to return it, but it was super frustrating.

Now I'm finally back home and just hanging out trying to decide whether to watch TV or read.
