Yes, but don't you see that that's not a helpful logic? Of course either of them could by bisexual. They could even be gay. But by your logic, so could anyone in the world. While it's true that just because a person has only been in heterosexual relationships it does not mean they could never be in a homosexual one, for the majority of people... that is simply not the case. Most people in the world are straight. And most people do not need to say, "hey, I'm straight!" if they've only ever been in a heterosexual relationship because it's evident. My boyfriend has only ever been with women - why do I need more proof that he's straight? I'm not saying AT ALL that this goes for everyone because I know for a fact that people hide their sexuality for years (perhaps for their entire lives), but it is definitely what happens with most people.

What I'm saying is, possibility does not equal probability. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but as it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that either House or Wilson at this point is going to be announced as gay (or bi) I don't see why people can't just be happy with their friendship and not see it as some kind of poor subsitute for the romatnic/sexual relationship they clearly would have if one were a woman. That to me totally misses the point of their relationship.

Er, why do you care how people see their relationship? If you don't see the slash, that's fine. But so what if other people see a romantic aspect to their interactions? Everyone has their interpretations of a show/text.

In addition, how about looking beyond labels of "gay" and "straight"? For many people, it's the person they care about, not the gender. How about just seeing it as "love"?

...I'm not trying to be an ass here, but House and Wilson are fictional. Therefore, so is their sexuality, and what is said about them in canon determines what their canon sexuality is. What happens in the real world is largely irrelevant; it's only as important to the subject matter as is dictated by the level of realism of the genre.

Since House, M.D. is a fairly realistic show, we can assume that, yes, the show creators will likely leave both characters apparently (but not definitively) straight.

(And the REASON I say, "but not definitively" is that said show creators are VERY aware of the slash fans, and know they'd alienate that section of the fanbase by trying to emphasize House and Wilson's heterosexuality. Now, that's probably not a large overall section of the fanbase - but if most fans will assume they're straight anyway, they loose nothing by not clarifying. I think that one fourth season episode I mentioned was a bit of fluke, and some bad writing that didn't match with the overall tone of the show.)

HOWEVER, should the show creators wish to, it would certainly be easy to retcon House and Wilson's respective apparent sexualities. And if the show creators won't, the fic authors certainly can.

So long as it hasn't been decreed out of bounds in some way by the canon then, a bisexual House or Wilson IS within, "the realm of canon."

And most people do not need to say, "hey, I'm straight!" if they've only ever been in a heterosexual relationship because it's evident.

Yes, they do. Because no, it's not.

I've only ever been in relationships with people of the same gender as I am. Does this make it "evident" that I'm gay? No. Because I'm not.

And anyone making that assumption? Would be wrong.

While I agree wholeheartedly with your second paragraph, your first is... unfortunately heavy-handed with assumed heterosexuality.

Of course either of them could by bisexual. They could even be gay. But by your logic, so could anyone in the world.

I'm failing to see the logical fallacy here. Anyone in the world could be bisexual or gay. It's up in the air. Why must we all be straight until proven otherwise?
