When has there been a gay male couple on the cover of TV Guide? Just because there are gay male couples (currently two, I think) on network TV doesn't mean they're being highlighted.

But that aside, Mulder and Scully weren't romantically linked at the time that Rolling Stone spread was done. They were partners and friends and there was a huge contingent of fandom saying what you've said: "Just because they're not together romantically/sexually, the significance of their relationship is not diminished."

But Rolling Stone still gave us completely sexy pictures. It would've been AWESOME to see for House and Wilson too, regardless of what's happening in canon.

Why can't people just be happy with the fact that House and Wilson are straight males with a very strong friendship? Speaking just for myself, it's because I SHIP THEM. In the same way a House/Cameron shipper or a House/Cuddy shipper ships those "couples," which are not canon, either. I'm happy with the friendship today; I'd be happier with them hooking up, adding a new dimension and layer to an already excellent and complicated relationship.
