Powers which they gave him *after* he straight-up murdered the top priest dude. You remember that? When he was standing in the challenge grounds? Where *anyone* can challenge him? In a country full of highly trained warriors?
IDGAF how super-cool and badass "Homicidal CIA Operative and International Terrorist Eric" is, one dude with no magic plant juice fighting a queue of people who want very much to keep this bloodthirty lunatic from taking over their country... is gonna have a bad time. Each of those people will be fresh, uninjured, and probably powered by something more stable than Daddy Issues. And he has to beat all of them.

Also, risk wiping out a good portion of their population as an "example."

He supposedly killed a guy who was born and bred to be the next Panther. A guy who is also highly trained when most of them are not trained in single hand-to-hand combat like Eric was because, let's face it, that guy barely broke a goddamn sweat taking out T'Challa.

People like Killmonger make examples of people. Large examples of people. To keep them in line. He was a "rule by fear" person.

Like dude, I know you think you'd totes line up to do this kind of thing, but I sure as fuck don't see you lining up to challenge Trump to single to-the-death combat for your country, so shut the fuck up.
