Honestly, this is the kind of thing that you can't do much about. Your sister has clearly fucked up in some way, and it doesn't sound like you're close enough for her to confide in you, nor can you offer advice without knowing her situation. The most you can do is try to support your nieces/nephews as best as you can. Don't offer false promises, but try to be a good listener.
