I don't think there is anything you can do to deal with your sister, since if she won't tell anyone what's going on, no one can figure out how to help (even if you didn't live too far away, you wouldn't be able to help a person like that). Hopefully, no one is making you feel like she is your responsibility.

I second being a good listener for her kids.
