It's funny how these folks always have an example at hand, isn't it?

(Anonymous) 2019-11-01 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt... but what now? Your comment doesn't even make sense. It implies
that people who make secrets about underage incest fic are super common (nope) and that they always cite specific examples of said fic (nope again). Just... huh?

da

Presumably that for people who ostensibly hate underage incest fic (or just underage fic in general), the people pearlclutching over it always seem to have surprisingly specific examples of really skeevy underage fic to point and shriek about, while most people in fandom don't actually run into them that often because it's an easy as fuck thing to filter out.

Almost as though they're deliberately going out and looking for it.

This. They may not secretly love it, but their fixation is...not productive or healthy. We don’t all have to be comfortable with that stuff, I’m not, but that’s why I avoid it.

This. In all my years of fandom, I've never accidentally come across shit like that.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither, and I've been around a hot minute.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky you. I've come across untagged or inadequately tagged stuff like that plenty of times.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I've never stumbled across this specifically, but I've stumbled across other gross shit I didn't want to read (like misogynistic fic glorifying rape as sexy) because there are authors out there who don't tag properly and don't let on what they're setting readers up for in the plot summary. I mean, good for you, but... that's luck. Not everyone is lucky.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-02 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
What exactly do you mean by this? What are you implying?

(Anonymous) 2019-11-02 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously.

I've been in plenty of fandoms that are apparently rife with this sort of fic, and I can count the number of times I've come across it on one hand. I've certainly never felt the need to save any of the fics I've stumbled across for later.
