The worst was when I finally realized it was one in my upstairs neighbors' apartment and I had to wait for them to get tired of the chirping and replace it. They held out a long time.

Not a smoke alarm, but had someone in a neighboring dorm not turn their alarm off before leaving. It was one of those old school alarm clocks with the hammer between the two metal bells. Going off for hours. HOURS.

Ugh, that was my next door neighbor in college, too. But at least it was just a regular clock radio alarm. She went home every weekend and kept forgetting so it'd go off at 6am. I woke up the RA and asked him to unlock the door and turn it off.
