107. Eehhh Ahiru wasn't a Sue to me, she was the inversed allegory of the Ugly Duckling. She never became a swan to be loved, she remained herself. It's a very healthy message for young girls. Ditto about Rue. Teaches girls it's OKAY to not be perfect (Tutu. TUTU is the Sue) or vixens (Kraehe) just to be themselves. :)

121. What's wrong with tomboys? Girly-girls can be as cliché moe-wank bait as man hating manly girls in fiction. It depends in the execution.

If there's an actual Anime series with really well done female characters is The Twelve Kingdoms, IMO (well done as: they are people rather than good characters to me). There you go: real, flawed girls without MOE MOE fanservice traits with a great development. I preferred the novels, but I was glad they didn't ruin the fun in the Anime.
