I don't watch contrapoints myself, but I struggle to imagine that anyone who goes through the emotional toll of engaging in deradicalization work on the internet is being "insincere" just because their production values have increased. Maybe consider whether you have a smidgen of unconscious bias that "put effort into appearance" necessarily equals "cares less about content". Because that's definitely an attitude that exists kind of subtly in the water in our culture, is based on low-key misogynist assumptions that women are frivolous and all about looks, and isn't, you know, true.

That said, your aesthetic preferences are your own as long as you don't harass her about it. As long as her older work is available for the public, enjoy it as much as you like.

Nah, trust me, if you did watch Contrapoints, you'd totally agree that she's upped her focus on aesthetic at the expense of the substance of her content. Not complaining because I love her aesthetic, but she clearly puts less work into her actual commentary nowadays.

I get the sense that she has some kinds of issues with the trans community, but I haven't looked into it enough to know the details.

She's said some stuff about how asking about pronouns can make binary trans people feel clocked and how it's sometimes at odds with NB people's needs. And done some stuff with Buck Angel who has some views that aren't in line with the younger generation's.
Honestly, I feel like being made into a gender authority sucks and don't envy her position one bit.

He's a transmedicalist who thinks nonbinary genders are fake and who has outed a trans woman for money, potentially endangering her life and career.

I mean, what is gender anyway? It's all made up. The difference with trans people is they experience dysphoria, and that needs to be taken seriously for their health and happiness. Everyone else is just ascribing arbitrary things to an archetype they want to follow. People can do whatever makes them happy, but it doesn't make gender more than stereotypes basically.

I can't relate. I think Natalie's later videos are awesome works of surreal film-making, and I've worked in media myself so I get what she means about the optics. Style and irony at the expense of sincerity is something she acknowledges is happening in her videos from time to time. Her incel video should be nominated for something, it's so good.
