I liked the Lego Joker a lot. Honestly, I think writers struggle with the character and just go for "gritty and edgy" because it's easy.

I didn't plan on seeing this movie when the trailer came out but then I ended up going and ended it up really enjoying it. Aside from the imagined controversy about how "oh no! people are going to see this movie and suddenly shoot up a school!!!11!1" that never actually came to be, I haven't seen much backlash.

That said, I've had to deal with listening to people go on and on forever about boring villains I don't care about like Kyle Ron and Loki and boring franchises like MCU for YEARS. Now it's my turn to have some fun so deal with it. :)

Aside from the movies the other villians do get a lot of focus, even in the Gotham TV show, it was more about penguin and friends than Joker. (He wasn't actually in it basically)
