They love to ship. They write and read shippy things and most of them are actually pretty prolific fic writers, but they have zero interest in the sex part of the ships.

So no, for a lot of people, shipping is not about being turned on.

Being asexual means you lack a sexuality/sex drive meaning you are not turned on by anything. I am asexual and I wish people, who have a sexuality, or low sex drive, but just dont trust people enough to have sex with them, would stop saying this stuff. Sorry if that sounds harsh but I am frustrated right now. People just dont sound asexual to me if they're getting turned on and masturbating to sex.

NAYRT - Well then you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to be asexual. Some ace people don't have sex drives, but many do. It's a lack of sexual attraction to others that defines sexuality for many, many people.

People just dont sound asexual to me if they're getting turned on and masturbating to sex.

Regardless of how people sound to you, plenty of asexuals get turned on, masturbate, and find the idea of sex hot as long as it doesn't involve them.

There are different ways to be asexual and both of ours are valid. I have never felt sexual arousal for another person and I don't want to have sex with them. I don't get aroused watching porn. Reading it is far enough removed from anything involving real people and myself that it's able to turn me on.

But I do find that people on the far end of not wanting to do with anything sexual whatsoever ace side feel threatened when other asexuals express, well, the capability for arousal, because they think it will make other people pressure them into sex because if other asexuals can do it so can you. Please learn that's not our responsibility, that it's everyone's own job to respect others' sexual boundaries.

Asexuality is about lack of sexual attraction to another person. It's not about sex drive, about getting aroused, or masturbating, all of which most are perfectly capable of myself included (sex repulsed ace who sometimes reads erotica but prefers nonsexy times with deep intimacy and kissing and who does masturbate)
