I ship both m/m and f/f, but I rarely ship m/f. I'm not really sure why. Most of my ships don't turn me on, but I like exploring their dynamics and I guess it's easier to do that if I feel like I'm a third party observer and m/f ships ruin that distance. Something like that anyway.

To me, I feel like there's usually a more direct connection in m/f fic with a writer's subconscious idealized romantic fantasies where they're implicitly putting themselves in one character's shoes.

Yeah, m/m and f/f aplenty, but I rarely ship m/f. Probably because canon ruins it so often.
