Podcasts. I just don't have the attention span to sit and listen to someone talk endless with noting else to do. I get bored staring at a wall, and everything goes in one ear and out the other if I try and multitask.

I mean, that's kind of the point of podcasts? Most of them are meant to be background noise while you're doing something else. I don't know a single person who sits and pays attention to the entire podcast, they put them on while they're cleaning/crafting/playing a video game/cooking/etc.

Really? I guess i'm thinking more along the lines of people reading fic - I want to actually hear the story, not just catch bits here and there.

I'm sure there are probably podcasts that do that too, but most of the ones I'm familiar with are basically just like episodic radio shows where the presenters talk about a particular topic, so they lend themselves well to background listening the same way you might put the TV on in the background but not actually be paying full attention to it.

Podcasts that are fic reading or story telling of some kind are the only ones I'm familiar with. ]

I just don't do 'background noise'. It irritates me and puts me on edge. I'll either sit down and listen to something/watch a show, or I'll be doing whatever I'm doing in the quiet.

I'm a lot like this too. I like listening to music while I bake or cook or do puzzles. But if I'm on the computer or reading a book I don't also listen to music or have the TV on. And if I'm watching a show for the first time, even if it's not very good, I won't do anything else while I watch it. If it's good enough for me to keep watching, it's good enough to focus on. I pause things if I need to check something on my phone. And I hate when music is too loud in restaurants.
