144. My brain has two specific categories of male attractiveness: cute and sexy. Without his beard, Tom Petty is sexy. With it, he switches to cute. It's kinda neat, really.

152. Perhaps, but remember that after a certain point Mary Sue is not just what a character does, but how a character does it. Actually I think she's the other kind of self-insert - a viewpoint character, the kind the reader will identify with... someone to walk around the crazy fictional world she lives in and go "wtf is this shit" for us all. Heeh.

152. Exactly, and there's nothing wrong or Sue-ish about that. I mean, I can't imagine why you'd single out Haruhi for being a Mary Sue when she's easily the least Sueish of basically everyone in Host Club.
