OH THANK GOD, someone agrees with me about the numbers \o/ Seriously, I remember the first time I stumbled across Reborn Fanart, and went "WTF do these numbers stand for???". Is it that hard to just write their names? God, it makes me so annoyed >.

To be the devil's advocate here (I don't mind the number thing at all), I don't see why using the numbers is seen as such a big deal, really. I mean... you're presumably remembering random useless information about the characters anyway. Remembering "Tsuna = 27; Gokudera = 59; Yamamoto = 80" etc. shouldn't be all that hard? I mean, it did take me a while (a month or so of mixing up Tsuna and Gokudera, and Yamamoto and Hibari, when I was a newfag), but once you get the hang of it it's really not hard at all.

Meh, I guess I just never saw the numbers in the manga, and when they started plopping up in fanart and other things related to Reborn, it made me very confused at first, and then my brother told me that it stood for the characters. I just thought it was weird that people used the numbers instead of the names. I've never been good with numbers, and I guess that's why it generally annoys me when I see them - I find names easier to remember than numbers, it feels like you have to learn an entirely new system to understand what people are talking about. That's just my opinion on it though.

Oh, I never saw it either until it was pointed out. XD Then I went back and looked and went "... HUH." And it totally annoyed me up to the point where I managed to remember it all -- it was a bit of a pain, understandably, but in the end it didn't take too much effort to learn the new system, even if that was what I had to do. Tbh, I use things like "YamaGoku" more than the numbers, but at least the numbers don't confuse me anymore. Though I still have moments where I see, like, 1859 and automatically assume that it's Hibari/Tsuna (because it's more common) before remembering that 59 = Gokudera. ._.

Tsuna has the 27 written right on his gloves, even.

But I have a good memory for useless information, which is probably why I don't mind it much.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm coming from. XD If you're in a fandom you're probably already remembering a lot of useless information for that canon. Adding in numbers, name shortenings, pairing names, etc, isn't actually that much more useless information to add in there.

... What actually annoys me most is that only, like, half the characters have numbers. So I don't know whether to think of things like in my icon as Squalo/Yama or Squalo80 or S80 or what. XD;
