Same tbh. I have invested a lot of time in this universe but am at the point where I'm fed up of thinking "wow, this thread shows promise!" only for it to be ignored or changed beyond all recognition. For a while it felt like they cared about character development but they fell into the same massive set pieces trap as any other franchise. I now truly believe that it's often the case that the pay off in good fanworks is better than it is in actual canon.
