What are your favourite "Oh sh*t" moments?

[Title] And maybe mention the name of the story at the beginning or something, to help with the spoilers. Thanks! <3

Oh, I'm sorry. What was it, the *, the heart or the asking for a spoiler warning?

Oh shit how? As in "Oh, shit I didn't expect that" or the characters themselves are dealing with na "oh shit" moment?

One I hated was from the novel version of My Sister's Keeper. That twist was shit.

One my favorite, "Oh shit!" recent moments was the alien scene in Annihilation (got me more than the bear scene).

The written jumpscare in The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher/Ursula Vernon. My plan to retire to the Pacific northwest means I have 25 years or so to get over my newfound deer-in-the-yard-at-night phobia.

Does the bit in Hamilton when Aaron Burr tells Alexander Hamilton that he's sleeping with the wife of a British officer count?

(oh shit)

The reveal in Silent Hill 2. That one got me so good that I actually had to put my controller down and stop playing for a while.

Vague spoiler for Hereditary.

The decapitation scene was probably the most extreme "Oh shit" moment I've ever had watching a movie. I'm not even the hugest fan of the movie as a whole, but that scene was just...electrically horrifying.

Also, the reveal in Fight Club. I managed to go into that movie knowing absolutely nothing about it, so the entire thing was basically one giant "what the fuck?!" and then the twist was just epic.

The scene in 28 Days Later where the dad gets a drop of blood in his eye was another big one, but it was less of a shocked "Oh shit" and more just...denial, horror, and sorrow in extremely rapid succession.

For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, or any "feasting" holidays

(Anonymous) 2019-11-10 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
What are your favorite foods? Especially desserts. Looking for ideas.

I'm afraid this isn't much help because my family prefers to stick with the classics, but I generally do apple pie, pumpkin pie and a batch of homemade vanilla ice cream to go with it.

Pie. Thanksgiving is all about the pecan pie. The meal stuff too, of course. But for desserts, nothing beats a tasty Thanksgiving pecan pie.

Homemade stuffing. Turkey. Chocolate pudding pie with whipped cream on top.

For non-dessert outside of the obvious: Oyster and cornbread stuffing and potatoes gratin. Brussels sprouts, roasted (this might count as obvious by now). Corn pudding with chiles.

For dessert: pumpkin pie obviously but also pecan pie and rhubarb pie. ginger-based cakes. banana pudding. bread pudding also, it's good because it's so adaptable. apple crumble.

If you could adapt any Disney property to a musical or stage show...

(Anonymous) 2019-11-10 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...what would you pick, and in what format?

Ice skating show counts as well.

I don’t know that I’d actually want a musical version, because the show itself backflipped over the shark, found out it was related to the shark, fucked the shark, and then somehow the shark turned out to be at least two different Disney characters, but a musical version of Once Upon a Time might be worth it to have Rumplestiltskin quote both Robert Carlyle’s “I’d have to be bound and gagged and dropped onto the stage from a great height, and even then, I’d escape,” and the supposed Carlyle quote that made it into the musical episode: “The Dark One doesn’t sing. I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty fork.”

Also since Disney owns ABC, I’m just gonna go ahead and whine that there still isn’t a Galavant stage show, and that makes me sad.

The one I'd pick has already been done (Lion King). Second choice would be Moana. I think the music is also nicely suited to musical form.
