I agree. I don't know how that work though. Maybe a collective website? I imagine it would be categorized by genre, and alphabetical order? I'm interested in making something like that.

Theoretically, I guess Goodreads would be your best bet if you wanted to do it by community sourcing, right?

How would you design the tag system?

I would think maybe try starting with the existing AO3 tagging system (or at least, the Freeform tags) and then let people add additional tags and have wrangling the same way AO3 does.

For works, maybe do tags somewhat like a vote? You can give works as many tags as you want, but a work will only show up in a search for a tag if it's been given that tag X number of times. Or something like that.
