Hah, I hadn’t played since I was 14 or so, but I’ve been playing the Switch rerelease and I had a very similar thought watching Squall getting fucking poked and prodded all the time. Not just into romance, but constantly being asked to open up and make himself vulnerable when he doesn’t seem ready to. I’m getting annoyed on his behalf, lol.
