It's been a long time since I played but I always chalked the others teasing Squall about liking Rinoa was something we couldn't see with those low res graphics and no voice acting. Like... maybe it was supposed to be there but just poorly conveyed?

Otherwise, yeah it seems like people are teasing him for no reason.
