They're taking bits and pieces of the original LOM scripts, and a few snippets from Ashes to Ashes, and the whole thing feels as authentically 1973 New York as the original felt 1973 Manchester.

As for why the original's not suitable -- well, duh, it's British and they talk funny, donchaknow! What American mainstream TV network would dare try THAT? :<
