122. This. In ways that don't even make sense. Orochimaru is functionally dead thanks to Sasuke. Kabuto may never fully recover, and he is the only reason I still read Naruto or give a damn about it. I should hate the Uchiha brat. But I don't. And I've really had it with fanboys griping about how Sasuke needs to die so that the series can go back to being about Naruto. Even on boards that aren't entirely dominated by lulz and fanwank, I feel like the conversation has mostly degenerated into one long lament about how much everyone misses the main character. I realize it's partly a gender thing, in that most of the guys who read Naruto identify a lot more with lil' orange britches than they do with his quiet, moody rival. But I think a lot of the girls who like Sasuke would much rather be him than date him. So it really bothers me when people assume that the statement "I like Sasuke" boils down to stupidity and hormones, because that's really not it at all. There's always a a lunatic fringe that insists on taking dark, difficult characters and turning them into glowering-but-lovable teddy bears, but it's also entirely possible to respect Sasuke as he is. And I'm glad someone had the guts to publicly express this, after it ceased to be cool, and long after and most of the squee-ing crowd found someone else to crush on.
